DNA WG - Changes to Lab Applications

Following the 2017 process of assessing applications for ICAR accreditation as genotyping labs and the recent review of Section 4 of the ICAR Guidelines, the DNA WG submits the following two recommended changes for ICAR Board approval:

  1. 1.That ISO-17025 or ISO-9001 accreditation, or an equivalent accreditation status for ensuring quality internal management systems, be mandatory for both microsatellite- and SNP-based genotyping laboratories, effective the 2020 call for ICAR wet lab accreditation.

  2. 2.That only those laboratories achieving Rank 1 status in the annual ISAG ring test shall automatically receive ICAR accreditation as a genotyping laboratory and ICAR accreditation of genotyping laboratories with a lower ring test rank shall be at the discretion of the ICAR DNA Working Group.

Upon Board approval of these recommendations, the DNA WG will finalize all content of Section 4 - Guidelines for DNA Technology
